I've been fishing the California Aqueduct for 30 years. I'm currently using Trilene test line and a bait casting reel on a 6.5 ft. 8-20lb, medium-action Ugly Stik rod. For Striper Fishing, I prefer when the gates are open all the way and the water is running fast. When the water is rough, I like to use trout-colored crankbaits. Also, for those of you who like to use fresh bait, I prefer to use anchovies and chicken liver, and not a lot of weight for stripers and catfish. In the summer I use top-water plugs, crankbaits and pencil poppers. For winter fishing, use anchovies, chicken liver, and various crankbaits. I've had good luck on summer days and full moon nights. Please check out the fishing tips on the left side and please sign my guest book. Thank You, and hope you enjoy!
Try different retrieves - it's all in the wrist.
