   Bill and I didn't know each other well, I was interested in fishing the aqueduct and bill told me how and what he does to catch them. One day he comes over driving up in his van and showed me what the real day of twins was a, 30.25 lb and 20.5 lb stripers and now I never gave up, this is my 3rd striper I've caught!  "Two Dozen Stripers and A Catfish!" Thanks for the great tips on Fishing the Aqueduct. I read up on your reports  over the Internet. I went fishing at the Aqueduct with my bro-in-law last summer for Great success. We caught 2 dozen stripers ranging from 16-20, and a 7lb cat, not bad for soaking our lines for 4 hours or so. I am an avid fisherman. I live in San Diego, so my fishing is primarily done inshore and offshore in the salt, you literally have to twist my arm to persuade me to full off of the salt and get onto the freshwater. However, minimal persuasions is required when my freshwater destination the Ca Aqueduct. I will be making a trip to Bakersfield Ca, this weekend, and fishing the Aqueduct on Monday with my Bro-in-law again.  He seems to believe that stripers stop biting during the winter months. You'll have to forgive his ignorance......He's more of a hunter than a fisher. I on the other hand closely study the metabolic and feeding habits of fish. I know that the current in a flowing tributary like the Aqueduct  forces fish to constantly feel due to the expenditure of energy. I'm GLAD that he (and hopefully others as well) think that the stripers stop biting during winter months. Less lines soaking in the water means more probability of not only getting bite but possibly getting bite by something substantial in size. You seem to be an expert on the Aqueduct however, so I wanted to hit you up for some advice. Please share more tips from your repertoire of expertise. Thank you for your time.                                                                               Thank you bill for showing me how to fish the aqueduct, you have taught me a lot! What lures and baits and what I was doing wrong. Just think I was only 16 years old at the time.  I am catching fish anywhere between 2-6 lbs. Now I am much older and still catching fish. You are the best one I know that has mastered the aqueduct! Thank You again, Respectfully, Buddy

                                 "Life Long Friends"

As a boy, growing up in the San Fernando Valley fishing was not the easiest place to learn about fishing, let alone finding a way to the local fishing hole other wise known as Hansen Dam. I did know this kid billy who did! Bill was quite a bit older than me and wanted no part of a fat little kid following him around, I had always asked him questions on how to fish and where and everything else a kid would want to know. Bill always talked about fishing and techniques so much, that a kid my age could completely be overwhelmed by all this information. So, here 40 years later and having been a life long friend and fishing companion of bills, I can honestly say bill knows more about fishing then anyone I know, but not just about large-mouth bass which bill masters, his knowledge of the aqueduct is unbelievable. Having lived with the aqueduct right in his back yard, life does'nt get any better then that! Thanks Bill. Clint Chaney

                         "My First Striper"

Back in our younger years, my brother bill and I went to Pyramid Lake, when we got there, they were stocking the lake, my brother bill noticed striper boiling. We went down to his favorite tackle shop and bought some pencil poppers, we returned the following morning. My brother showed me and my brother in-law how to use the pencil poppers off the swimming area shore, it took bill about 20 minutes and me to catch on. We started pluging the top water, my brother bill got the first one and then me and then Jimmy. I was really excited on catching my first striper and listening to bill that we all took a picture together. This was back in 1977 Thanks Bro!!!  Frank Rini

"Learning To Fish For Striped Bass"

When we first met it was summer of 1995. Then in 1999, bill and I started fishing together at the aqueduct next to his house. We went fishing every chance we got. Bill was showing me how to cast out, what types of lures and baits to use and he told me what I was doing wrong, that I needed a good pole. So I went down with him and bought me an Ugly stick and I was using 10 lb test line, I then started buying different types of tackle etc...We would always sit up at the aqueduct at different times of the day and night just teaching me the ropes of fishing, expecially Stripers and at his lake for Largemouth Bass. I had always loved fishing, even in my kyounger years. Well this fish here is my 3rd Striper and my biggest yet, I am realy proud of it! It was 4.5 lbs. Also catching Catfish too! I am glad to know what I have learned from Bill adn I do owe it all to him. Now we are merried and still learning to this day. Man if you could see him cast his pole like a pro!!!

 LOL!!    Are you kidding!  If it was'nt for your website, I would'nt have started fishing duct in the first place. After finding your website I went looking for some catfish action. My first night I hooked into something that almost pulled me in. No joke! To make a long story short, It broke 20 lb line !! On the very same line I pulled a 40 lb Flathead out of a tree infested river. I have been fishing there  ever sence fairly regularly. I am from the midwest where the waters are muddy and full of big Channels, Blues and flatheads. I will fish for anything that will bite. But my main focus is on the catfish and now maybe the striper in there. Getting them out, Now that is the tricky part.  Ron (MoonlightN)
